I'm Mason, a high school English teacher in Buffalo currently doing my 6th year of teaching. I have taught various levels of high school and middle school English, from 6th grade ELA, to reading intervention for 9th grade English Language Learners, to a rigorous 11th grade honors class. I specialize in writing instruction, including essay organization and planning. Because of my experience with teaching a reading intervention class, I am also experienced with slower-paced, detail-oriented reading instruction. I pride myself on a patient approach to 1-on-1 instruction and have an especially flexible schedule this summer, in between school years. Having taught the full covid school year, I am experienced with adapting my instruction for online platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, etc).

In addition to my experience with full classes, I have 1-on-1 tutoring experience relating specifically to writing composition. I have tutored students in a summer make-up work setting and after school hours during the school year. Usually teaching a class of 30ish students, I enjoy the in-depth conversations and work process that 1-on-1 tutoring offers.
