I love and always have loved school, learning new things, and helping others do the same, which is why I became a teacher!

I developed and implemented Pre-Algebra curriculum for a total of 4 years and 7th grade Science curriculum for three years. Our school had tutoring built into our schedule so I have a lot of one-on-one experience with students of all different learning styles!

I am also an artist who loves using art to help communicate simple or difficult concepts. New knowledge is best acquired when students can connect it to their own learning style and to things they already know and experience, which using visuals also helps with! Anything worth doing takes practice and I love seeing the progress that comes with working at something over time!

I taught and developed a curriculum for 75 min 8th Common Core Pre-Algebra classes for 2 years and tutored 40 min classes each day for two years after that and I still love the subject whenever we get to use it in science. I earned high SAT math scores, took Calculus in both high school and college, and passed the Math Praxis!

I have taught and developed a middle school science curriculum for three years, which includes Biology, Physical Science, and Chemistry, and passed the Biology Praxis! Science is my favorite subject and I love how it, much like math, applies to everything! I also spent a total of 4 developing and revising my own math curriculum.

Feel free to contact me if you need help, insight, or encouragement in any of these areas and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Drawing

I have successfully completed one year of Visual Arts training at Texas A&M. During my seven-year teaching career, I have taught 30-minute cartooning sessions to secondary students four times a week and I have enjoyed watching their creativity grow! I have created pieces using charcoal, chalk pastel, oil pastel, acrylic paint, drawing pencils and pens, artist markers, and sculpture. Recently, I have been creating content for learning Japanese and software development, animations, and designing logos and cover art.

Japanese

Japanese

I have been learning Japanese (self-taught) via online and print resources and having conversations in person and on language learning applications for about 6 years. I taught Japanese to my middle school students for those 6 years as I was learning it. I can confidently teach you to read, write, listen, and speak all hiragana, katakana, (including digraphs) and N5 kanji and most N4 kanji and radicals.

Biology,

Biology

I created and refined daily science lessons for 7th graders, about a third of which is biology in Memphis, Tennessee. This included developing fluency and remediation activities and formative and summative assessments. It also included hands-on projects such as: modeling and comparing mitosis and meiosis with veggie straws, designing an aquarium, making a mitosis flipbook, creating a cell diorama, and more!
Geometry,

Geometry

I created and refined geometry lessons within our 8th grade Pre-Algebra curriculum for 2 years. In addition, I developed homework and remediation tasks and formative and summative assessments for this subject. Some of the topics included transversals, pythagorean theorem (for which we sang a catchy tune), transformations (featuring the Transformers), angle relationships, perimeter, volume, and area!

Friendly and Informative

Taylor is great at helping you towards specific goals and gearing those goals towards what you want rather than making you shape your goals around a curriculum.
