About Jennifer

Bio

I have been tutoring mathematics for more than 13 years. I have tutored courses ranging from Pre-Algebra through Calculus 2, College Algebra & Probability and Statistics (my favorite). I have also tutored a few middle school students over the years, and have tutored SAT and ACT Prep.
I am licensed to teach mathematics grades 5-12 and also hold an ESL endorsement K-12. I currently teach at the high school level, and the 2023-2024 school year I am teaching AP Statistics and Geometry. As a...

I have been tutoring mathematics for more than 13 years. I have tutored courses ranging from Pre-Algebra through Calculus 2, College Algebra & Probability and Statistics (my favorite). I have also tutored a few middle school students over the years, and have tutored SAT and ACT Prep.
I am licensed to teach mathematics grades 5-12 and also hold an ESL endorsement K-12. I currently teach at the high school level, and the 2023-2024 school year I am teaching AP Statistics and Geometry. As a graduate student, I held positions as a TA for Elementary Probability and Statistics, and a Technology in the Classroom Course for 2 1/2 years. I am also a Google Certified Educator.

I love mathematics, but I teach primarily not because I love mathematics, but because I love sharing the remarkable and unique experience of overcoming challenge and building self-confidence with others! My educational experience (in and out of the academic realm) has profoundly altered the way I view the world, and more importantly myself. I gain great pleasure from sharing the extraordinarily transformative power of inquiry and insight with others!

I've earned a B.S. in Mathematics from St. Ambrose University, and a Master's in Mathematics Education at the University of Iowa. I have also completed 18 additional credit hours of graduate level mathematics and statistics courses, qualifying me to teach at Iowa Community Colleges.

Awesome tutor for AP Statistics!!

Jennifer D. deserves more than five stars - she is an amazing tutor! My daughter was struggling with AP Statistics and wanted to drop the class when she started working with Jennifer mid-way through her senior year in HS. After just one session, she started to feel more comfortable with the course material. Jennifer prepared for each lesson based on the topics that were challenging in the class. If my daughter did not understand concepts that were taught earlier in the course, Jennifer easily backtracked and helped create a foundation. It was super easy to schedule lessons with Jennifer and she always responded quickly. As a result of working with Jennifer, my daughter's grades improved from C's and D's to A+ in the 4th marking period and an overall grade of A for the full year. Even better, she earned an AP score of 4 (out of 5), which translated into college credits. If my daughter needs Math assistance in college, she will contact Jennifer without hesitation - highly recommend!

Jennifer D. helps me understand how to find the five summary, standard devietain, median, average, Q1, Q3, IQR and many other things in my statistics class. She explains how it works from the very beginning and teachies me to how to do it manually, on the TI -84 calculator, and on Mirosoft Excel. She is also a very patient tutor! If you need help, she can help walk you thought for whatever problem you need to solve!
