I am an experienced college statistics teacher and tutor. With over 40 undergraduate stats classes taught and 2,000 successful individual tutoring sessions, I have refined my tutoring skills especially toward students who are struggling with grasping or learning a stats topic. My approach is to first build communication through a sense of trust and empathy with my student, then demystify the topic by simplifying and explaining the needed steps and concepts in a personalized manner as I guide them in working through the technique. I can greatly assist students at all academic levels, from those who are completely lost in the course, to those struggling with particular skills or problems, or to those who would just like to get some extra practice in before an exam.
I have a B.S. in Computer Science summa cum laude (3.93 GPA) from Kent State University, and an M.B.A. (3.82 GPA) from The University of Akron. While at The University of Akron, I served first as a graduate assistant in the role of departmental stats tutor. Then, as an Assistant Professor of Practice , I served as the Business Statistics course coordinator, as well as designing and implementing the full set of course materials and methodologies that were used.
I am very passionate about helping my students succeed in their specific course skills challenges, while also developing a positive and empowering sense about their academic accomplishments and overall confidence in learning.
