My vast experience in education includes teaching students within the Tuscaloosa City Schools for three decades, at the University of Alabama, and at Stillman College during and after retiring from the public school system. Teaching positions range in scope from secondary English instruction, undergraduate adjunct English/composition/technical writing instruction at the University of Alabama and Stillman College, and correspondence instruction in English and sociology at the University of Alabama's Independent Studies division.
Instruction has and does require a range of skills: assessing need, planning, developing lessons plans and/or syllabi, teaching the curriculum, evaluating, documenting, reporting, computer applications in Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Print Shop, Print Master, and Blackboard.
Through the years, I served as middle school English Department chair, team leader, spelling bee coordinator, committee leader/member, and as clinical master teacher in affiliation with the University of Alabama.
An advanced student nominated me for inclusion in the 1994 edition of Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
