Hello, I'm Ray! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Classical Civilizations and minors in History and Anthropology. I have always had a strong work ethic when it comes to school, but I certainly found myself in burnout mentalities from time to time. Sometimes, the amount of work you get in school does feel insurmountable, but it never is. I have worked on several strategies to help be a better performer in school even when struggling with motivation issues.

I have a few years experience tutoring middle and high schoolers in all subjects, and I have been a kung fu teacher's assistant for groups of 5-15 high school aged kids. Whether it be basic homework help or setting up schedules for writing an essay, I have worked with various kinds of students perform better for themselves. I find that all students, even if they have low grades, have the intelligence to perform better with some structured tutoring. All it takes is a tutor with patience and awareness to find different ways to help a student feel engaged.

I have taken several college courses in Anthropology (Cultural Anthropology Intro, Films of The Borderlands-a Borderlands theory course, Ethnography Field Methods, Archaeology, Cultural Property). These courses consisted of reading hundreds of pages of Anthropological theory essays and research papers. I have written papers and taken anthropology tests, and I got As in all of these courses. Thus I am well prepared to tutor this subject.

My major in college was almost always evaluated on how well I could write about the information I learned throughout the semester. I often had to write ten-page essays of various types (research paper, argument pieces, etc.) and I even wrote my thirty-page thesis on a literary analysis topic. I am well versed in Ancient Greek and Roman texts (Homeric poetry, Sophocles, Ovid, etc.) as well as more modern pieces commonly taught in high school (The Catcher in the Rye, Lord of the Flies, etc.). Additionally, I have taken several creative writing cours
