I am an experienced tutor with a love of learning. I believe every student can succeed with hard work and a dedication to reaching their best potential. I am a certified Preschool and Elementary (K-5th grade) teacher with a Language Arts specialization for 5th-8th grade. I have a Master's in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's in English with a minor in Professional Writing. I have also taken a Post-Master's class in Children's and Young Adult Literature through the Reading Specialist program. I have experience tutoring PreK and Elementary (K-6th grade) students in Math, Reading, Phonics, and Writing at a tutoring center for four years. I remind students to work efficiently and help children select leveled readers. I have tutored PreK-High School students in English/Language Arts in-homes, helping children with writing, reading, phonics, and NJ ASK test prep. I prepared my own curriculum for students, including word-building games, writing prompts, review worksheets, and assessments. I have also helped students edit their English/Language Arts papers. I have experience teaching part-time in several school districts.
I would appreciate the opportunity to help more students achieve their learning potential. I believe learning is a life-long process, and I hold myself to a high standard. I am a patient person, and am willing to explain material to students using different teaching methods. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, but would be willing to make-up missed tutoring sessions. I would happy to set up a convenient location for individual or group tutoring.
