From 2015 to 2018 I worked as an engineering lecturer with the University of Texas at Tyler and Houston Community College. I taught various engineering courses from the freshman to senior level. In May 2018, I completed a Masters in Education at the University of Texas at Tyler.

As of Fall 2018, I have relocated to Corvallis, Oregon to begin a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering. I'm currently offering in-person tutoring for students local to Corvallis and online lessons for students everywhere.

I've been tutoring for many years, even since I was in high school myself. I offer tutoring in a multitude of subjects, but specialize in high school and college level mathematics, physics, chemistry, and statistics courses. I also offer tutoring in preparation for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, etc. I have been tutoring on and off since 2002, and I can help you or your student through these often challenging courses.

For online tutoring, I offer lessons through my lightboard studio. A lightboard allows an instructor to present diagrams, notes, and equations while themselves being visible in real time. Video samples can be provided if you're curious what that looks like.

The rate shown on this page is my standard rate for a one hour session. I can offer discounted rates for longer sessions. My rate is the same whether I'm working with one or multiple students simultaneously, so for students on a tight budget, that is an option.

My cancellation policy is that a lesson must be cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time. For a lesson cancelled within 24 hours, I may charge a missed lesson fee equal to one-half of the lesson cost.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I offer tutoring in every math class from pre-algebra through differential equations. I have tutored students in mathematics ranging in ages from middle school to university. To me, simple algebra is beyond trivial. I not only have a mastery of the material, but experience in explaining it to students with a variety of learning styles.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra I and II are trivial to me. I have taken and tutored a great many mathematics courses, and algebra II is one of the simpler courses that I can tutor.
Calculus,

Calculus

I have studied calculus, tutored calculus, and applied it to real-world design problems. I took AP Calculus AB and BC in high school, and scored fives on both exams. At university, I took Calculus III, differential equations, and numerous upper level engineering courses that involved applying basic calculus.

We're so glad we found her!

Our 11th grade student was having a hard time transitioning to a new school and a new town, and some of her grades reflected this, including Chemistry. We realized it was necessary to find a tutor immediately as there were tests coming up and homework due and there was no time to mess around trying to muddle through the text book and "negotiate" due dates with the teacher. It was especially not helpful to punish our student or stress her out more by showing our disappointment and threatening to take away privileges. She needed REAL help. I did my research, but promptly settled on WyzAnt and Tanya. I was nervous because we didn't have any time to spare and a bad tutor would have been a waste of time, not to mention, money. Tanya showed up on time, quickly introduced herself, sat down with our student at the table and got to work. To put things into perspective, our daughter got a 33 on the first test and was so stressed out it was frightening. Tanya worked with her one night, the next day our daughter took her second test. I was hoping for passing. She got an 81. It was astonishing. Not only did our daughter make a decent grade on this next test, she's UNDERSTANDING the material, which helps her for a lifetime! Am I singing Tanya's praises? Yes, yes I am. I am a mother who hates the stress our kids are under, and a mother who is enormously grateful when a solution is found.

Solid

Tayna, was very helpful and patient with my kiddo. She spent some extra time with her to make sure she understood the material which was helpful as I couldn't make the intertoobs work. Funny and personable with a solid sound system. Cheers

Knowledgeable and good natured flexible minded tutor

Chemistry session. In this first session, Tanya reviewed AP chemistry topics: electron configuration, molecular polarity, formal charge. It was a good productive session for my daughter.

Great to teach complications by demonstrating simply for clear understanding

My daughter had a Precalculus session today. In this session, continued study or basic precalculus topics. In particular, looked at rational functions and their graphs, including finding asymptotes, intercepts, and a variety of other properties. Tanya made a great lesson to let my daughter understood quite well.

100% Satisfied

Tanya was so good to my son. He understood everything she taught today's lesson. She recommended a book for him to study for next grade-8th. I and my son are 100% satisfied. Thank you Tanya.

Very helpful, supportive and competent tutor

My daughter asked to go to tutoring for chemistry but didn't expect it to be a great experience. She was pleasantly surprised and told me the time passed quickly. She didn't have a lot of time and got a much better understanding that in class. I would definitely recommend Tanya as a tutor. She was very flexible and got good results. We will use her again to tutor in Algebra 2.

Knowledgeable and Patient

She helped my sister gain a clear view of how to approach chemistry as well as go in detail with practice problems.

RAQUEL, 1 lesson with Tanya

Awesome!

She is great and a lot of background experience, she is very nice and makes learning fun! She doesn't rush you or judge you if you don't know the material. Tanya is very helpful!
