*Welcome!* I'm a Yale grad with a deep love of learning, a passion for teaching, and a great respect for individual differences. Whether you love studying and learning or can't quite claim that level of devotion, you've come to the right place.

I've taught several GRE prep courses, including a math refresher course, at the University of Washington. I've also developed many strategies to help students improve their performance on the SAT and ACT. These tests do require specific math and verbal knowledge, but just as importantly, they also require problem-solving strategies, critical thinking skills, and logic. I focus on both the content and the strategy, using a selection of the best prep books and online material.

As a university-level English composition instructor, I graded more than 25 papers each week, marking each grammatical, syntactical, and organizational error. I work with students to be able to spot their own errors and to write so as not to be misunderstood.

I have also worked with many non-native speakers of English--including Chinese, Korean, Russian, and Iranian students--to improve their grammar, reading, and speaking skills.

My goal is for you to become an independent learner and confident test-taker. Whatever your needs, I'm here to help!

I charge $85/hour. I require 24 hours' notice for lesson cancellations.

I look forward to hearing from you to help you achieve the success you're seeking!

I've taught several GRE prep courses and GRE math refresher courses at the University of Washington. The GRE does test actual math and verbal knowledge. I've worked with many teenagers and adults to understand and apply algebra 1 principles. Some of my students just need a refresher; others need to work on fundamentals. I like to work problems forwards and backwards to make sure the student understands not only how to set up certain types of problems, but how to think them through and how to check their answers.

I took 10 years of formal piano lessons including music theory classes in high school and college. I consistently earned top marks in adjudicated festivals and events. From 2010-2015, I owned my own studio, where I taught 20+ piano lessons a week. I've also given several solo recitals; performed in a number of ensembles, including concerto with orchestra; accompanied dozens of vocalists, instrumentalists, and choirs; and participated in improvisational music events.

To score well on SAT math, you need a firm grasp of the content covered on the test, quick computational skills, good test pacing, and insight into the College Board's favorite question types, as well as the tricks to use and traps to avoid along the way. Incredibly knowledgeable and helpful

With Jennifer's help once a week for about a month leading up to my test, I was able to improve my score by six points, which really does make a large difference. Not only did we review the concepts necessary to complete the problems, but also elements of test taking strategy which I would not have known otherwise. She was very patient, and truly focused on the areas in which I needed the most improvement. Additionally, I'd spent money on a more expensive, highly regarded, in-person tutor for additional test prep, and he truly didn't even compare. Would highly recommend Jennifer - not even worth searching elsewhere.

Knowledgeable and Experienced Tutor

Jennifer was invaluable in her sessions with me. She helped me increase my verbal score by 10 points and my quantitative score by 6 points on the GRE. Jennifer is an expert at simple strategies to solve complex math and reading comprehension questions. She was extremely patient and thorough while providing instructions. There were two occasions where she went outside of her regular tutoring hours when I missed scheduled tutoring sessions and her days were fully scheduled. Jennifer took the time to teach me excellent study habits and techniques that I will carry with me to graduate school. I cannot recommend her enough to anyone seeking help or the extra edge.

Jennifer is an excellent tutor by all accounts!

She is kind and patient, explains the material effectively and comes prepared with materials that actually help understand the concepts. I am not a strong standardized test taker and felt very overwhelmed by the GRE, while beginning a new job but working with Jennifer is the reason I felt like I was studying effectively and within a structure and ultimately, did well on the exam. I am so thankful to have had her as a tutor and for those of you like me, who may not be the strongest test taker or are balancing many priorities, Jennifer is wonderful.

Organized and helpful tutor

Jennifer was great during our lesson. She helped explain broader strategies for the GRE and also how to do specific problems. She also came prepared with different problems. I am definitely booking more lessons.
