Let me show your child ways of becoming a successful thinker, problem-solver, and writer by giving them successful strategies and tricks to make it easier to understand, accomplish, prepare for, and to above all learn to ACHIEVE and SUCCEED!

I am an experienced classroom teacher with an M.Ed in K-9 Education, as well as a successful academic tutor, test prep specialist, secondary school/college admissions specialist, and educational advocate for students and their families. I am ready to help students learn to become successful in all academic areas, by showing them effective study strategies and organizational skills. I teach students how to use plenty of useful and successful skills to prepare for and to tackle the many challenges that students face with the academic rigors of today. From learning the basics of reading, writing and math with lower grade students, to diving deeper into various content areas of historical events, the interactions of world civilizations and community groups in social studies, the use of the experimental design in all the science fields, guided reading and comprehension methods of literature pieces, the deeper understanding of vocabulary word meanings and sentence development, how to successfully conquer the five main types of writing pieces from using single paragraphs to formulating detailed persuasive style essays, to organizing daily and long term assignments, as well as by showing students all the different ways of studying to help understand and comprehend what they've learned.

Career Development

As part of being an educational consultant, I worked with clients to help plan their career goals, as well as help establish what education is needed to obtain these goals. I helped assist with resume & cover letter writing, job search techniques, and taught successful ways for these clients to appropriately and effectively interview by using public speaking and presentation skills. At the same time, I kept constant communication with potential hiring agencies and companies themselves.

Writing,

Writing

The writing process is one of my favorite areas to teach. I am a true believer that any type of learner, no matter their analytical and critical thinking level can write with confidence and ease, producing a high level writing piece that will be easily understood by any reader. This applies to all types of writing styles, from basic one paragraph descriptive writings to higher level types of writing, including persuasive arguments. I place a great deal of emphasis on teaching students how to go from the initial brainstorming process to the final completion of a multi-paragraph persuasive essay, while utilizing the three types of rhetorical appeals: ethos, pathos and logos. At the same time, I can show any writer how to skillfully elaborate by using examples to support a thesis style topic and showing evidence and examples to help support the main idea. Finally, writing mechanics are explained to show that mechanics are just as important as the ideas being presented to the audience. Writing is an important tool in our lives and I can show any type of writer how to strengthen their overall writing skills so to easily produce an excellent piece of writing, no matter the style.

Knowledgeable, Patient, and Kind

Jennifer was awesome. She helped my 13 year old grandson not only get through his summer reading but also had him understand both books. She was patient and kind. Jennifer was very accommodating to our sessions as we had some difficult situations happen! I would recommend Jennifer to anyone who is looking for a dedicates, knowledgeable, patient, and kind tutor.

Both you and your child will appreciate this tutor!

Search no more! Seriously!! My child has had one session with her thus far and I have never seen my child so excited to work on her math homework. She can't wait for her next session with Jennifer. My daughter has become so motivated to catch up with her class. Math has always been a weak subject for my daughter and she is currently in the below average category among her classmates in math. She was diagnosed with ADHD and her math homework has always been a struggle for the both of us. Since meeting with Jennifer, I feel completely confident in her tutoring skills. She has been very flexible and communicative from the very beginning. She truly cares about her students as individuals and has already proven to be supportive of my decisions regarding my child's academic goals. My daughter was so excited about all the new things she learned in just one session. I have seen such a huge change in my daughter's attitude towards her academics since meeting with Jennifer so I went ahead and increased my daughter's tutoring sessions to two per week. My little girl is SO excited - about math and working with Jennifer! Before meeting Jennifer, she was dreading a tutor. I can't even believe it. It's such a relief as a parent. I feel so hopeful now!
