For as long as I can remember, music has been an undying passion of mine. Recently, I set out on journey to make it my life in the form of studying Jazz Guitar and Music Education at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth where I currently have a GPA of 3.7. I would love nothing more than to impart my wisdom and provide a helping hand to students seeking to better understand the subtleties and intricacies of music. Music can be especially frustrating in the beginning but coming to terms with the ancillary aspects such as theory, ear training, technique, etc. can set you on a path to experiencing the greatest feeling of all, uninhibited musical expression. My goal as a tutor is to help you reach that feeling by rigorous yet rewarding lessons. I set the bar very high for myself and I expect the same from my students; that being said, it is also important to keep in mind that music is supposed to be fun!

I have studied ear training; classical and jazz theory; and guitar for the last four years with great success. From recognizing simple intervals to chords with extended voicings; simple modulations to improvising over an altered chord; and fingering a simple a minor chord to sweep arpeggios, I have studied all of it and everything in between. I will also be providing students with challenging homework and regular assessment of their progress.

As I said earlier, I hold myself to a high standard and as such, I would ask that you provide me with feedback. Furthermore, if you are not satisfied with the lesson I will not bill you for your time.

I have a sound-proof music room in my apartment that is sure to suit any students' needs. Also, I am willing to travel to meet with students.

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy but I also offer makeup lessons.

Thanks for taking the time to view my profile! I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals in music!

Ear Training,

Ear Training

As part of my Music Education Degree, I was required to study ear training in Professor Reiko Tanaka's rigorous Music Skills course. Here, I studied compound and simple rhythms, tonal and atonal melody and ear training which entailed everything from simple melodic dictation to compound intervals and rhythmic dictation. Also, as a jazz musician an ably trained ear is integral to performing spontaneous improvised music as the direction of a particular piece is constantly shifting depending on the soloist.
Guitar,

Guitar

I have been playing guitar for over sixteen years. I studied with a private instructor for over 7 years. Recently, I finished a four-year program in Jim Robitaille's Jazz Guitar Studio at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth. Between semesters, I would study with Prof. Robitaille to further hone my skills. Also, I taught guitar to 4th graders at a summer program in the summer of 2014.
