I'm certified as an English language teacher to adults and understand how to explain its basics, but I also know when the basics are sound and we can elevate our game. I have a Bachelor's from a top-20 English program and a Master's from a top-10 journalism school.

I've been a writing teacher at a community college and a university for several years. I've taught classes for adult writers at every level, and worked for years in writing centers with students one at a time. Helping students craft better essays in every aspect--developing the main theme, getting ideas to fit the task, sharpening organization and grammar, proofreading until things are just right--is something I take pride and pleasure in.

I have experience as an editor and writer in tech, law and government, and health sciences; I likewise was in business in sales, marketing, and operations. This means that I understand not only how to write, but how a lot of different subjects work and think, so the writing can be a better fit.

The feedback I offer is thorough and direct. I will ask if you're getting what you need and how you need it, and will adjust to make sure things are working for you--because nothing else really matters.
