I regularly teach workshops and masterclasses in vocal technique, acting, and performance practice for academic institutions throughout the world, including Mannes School of Music, Tel Aviv University Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Rice University Sheperd School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, University of Texas, and San Diego State University. I am a core faculty member of the National Theater Institute and National Music Theater Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Center, and I've also served on the guest faculties of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute and Mannes School of Music.

As a performing artist, I sing leading baritone roles with the world’s most important opera houses and orchestras, including the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Carnegie Hall, the Salzburg Festival, Grand Théatre du Généve, Théâtre du Châtelet, and the BBC Symphony, with broadcast and recording credits including the BBC, Arte TV, PBS, NPR, Radio France, RAI, Innova, Erato, and ORF. My repertoire of over 60 principal roles includes both classic and contemporary works, with vocal demands that embody a broad range of musical styles: opera, musical theater, jazz, rock, and everything in between.

I hold degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where I was a protégé of the influential voice pedagogue and author Richard Miller. I co-authored articles with Miller on vocal acoustics and received research grants from the McNair Foundation and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

I am a Core Faculty member at National Theater Institute and the legendary Eugene O'Neill Center, where I teach Transmedia Storytelling (a framework for multidisciplinary theatermaking), Voice, and performance practices. I have also served as Visting Professor and Granada Artist-in-Residence at the University of California, Davis Dept. of Theater and Dance, where I taught Transmedia Storytelling, immersive theater, and wrote/directed/designed a large scale immersive theater installation called REFUGE. I've performed over 60 leading roles all over the world in opera, musical, spoken theater, commercials, and film. I have also directed and designed theatrical productions throughout the world. My approach to acting as a teacher, director, and performer draws from an unusual combination of acting training under first-generation students of Sanford Meisner and Marcel Marceau, along with vocal training and mentorship from influential voice pedagogues Patricia McCaffrey and the late Richard Miller.
