Since I started teaching 11 years ago, I have not felt like I have worked a day of my life. I enjoy knowing I am helping students and making a difference in their lives. I try to make math fun and engaging, which I believe translates to success in the math classroom. I also try to give all students an "access point" to a problem. I know that all students come in with different knowledge, skills, and beliefs, so I do my best to figure out where my students are so that I can guide them toward mastery of important Algebra 1 skills.

I am currently teaching and tutoring, but what sets me apart from most teachers is that I am a bilingual math teacher. I have my bilingual endorsement, so I actually teach some math in Spanish to my English-language learners. I feel that I am very patient and understanding of students because of my teaching and tutoring background.

Aside from my teaching and tutoring experience, I am also a high school math facilitator for students who are at-risk. I work closely with students who are struggling with math due to skill/math-based deficiencies and organizational/motivational deficiencies. My experience in this position has helped me grow professionally and personally, which has made a positive impact on students I tutor.

I have a genuine passion for Algebra 1. I enjoy it more than any other subject because I understand how important it is in predicting high school and post-secondary success. I have taught Algebra 1 since the beginning of my teaching career 11 years ago. I have had the opportunity to work with various Algebra 1 curricula and I have worked with students who are diverse both culturally and based on skill.
