Hi, I'm Brian! I graduated Cum Laude from Miami University with a Bachelor's Of Science in Biochemistry with Departmental Honors in 3.5 years. After college, I pursued a PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin, where I graduated in 2022. At the University of Texas, I conducted research in the area of synthetic organic chemistry and developed new synthetic methods for the construction of carbon-carbon bonds through transition metal catalysis.

While in graduate school I had the opportunity to teach both organic chemistry lab and lecture courses. In both sections, I had the opportunity to not only teach fundamental organic chemistry concepts, but also to hold office hours where students could come ask questions on topics they were struggling with. Through this experience, I found that a common pitfall among students in organic chemistry was simply trying to memorize reactions and concepts instead of truly understanding them. My goal as a tutor is to help students understand chemistry concepts and discourage them from memorizing them. I want to help students understand the way atoms and molecules "think" so the students can be better equipped to handle any chemistry question. I believe that this is the best and only way to master organic chemistry.

I also believe that one of the best ways to learn, chemistry or any other subject, is through practice. So, as a tutor my goal is to come up with additional practice problems for students to complete. This not only helps reinforce learned concepts, but also identifies any additional gaps in knowledge. This way, we can really focus on the concepts that are most troublesome for students.
I currently work as a Senior Scientist at a pharmaceutical company specializing in medicinal chemistry. I am very passionate about organic chemistry and love sharing my knowledge of chemistry with others. Finally, the best way to start learning anything is to ask questions! I encourage any and all questions no matter how big or small they might seem. I am h
