When I was young, I used to hate math, but through the persistence of my parents and some great teachers, I came to love it! I share my appreciation for math and my passion with my students, and we can usually find a way to get that Eureka moment, when it clicks and they realize that they can do math too!

My undergraduate degree was in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University. Prior to going there I had scored in the 99th percentile for Math and 95th percentile for English on the SAT. I was also a national merit semifinalist based on my PSAT scores. I worked at Lockheed Martin for some years as an engineer and later went on to get a degree in Information Technology to explore the world of computer programming (JavaScript, PHP, and Python).
Throughout my experience, I have always had a love of arithmetic and algebra, in fact, the reason I did my undergraduate in engineering and not computer science is because I was looking for a way to combine my love of arithmetic and algebra with Newtonian Physics.
One of my favorite things about Math is its objectivity. It doesn't matter who says a thing, if it's right, it can be proven, and if it's wrong that can be shown. Another great benefit is that you can arrive at the same answer through a variety of methods. Many people think they are bad at Math, but it's likely you just haven't figured out your way of approaching the problems. As a young boy I struggled with Math initially, and had an issue where I wanted to do all the work in my head. Eventually this bad habit led to a lot of errors. I have since learned to write down my work, in part due to having very good teachers. However, what I really enjoyed was the fact that I could argue with my math teachers, and when I was right, they weren't upset, they actually thanked me for finding the issue! Math is a universal language that aims to quantify observations, there's no need for ego. We all need math, and if you think it's hard, you're in good company, but now I LOVE math, and I'd like to help you love math too
