Career Development

Helping others achieve clarity and success in their career goals is an immense source of fulfillment for me. My qualifications include: participated in numerous career-skills workshops led by professional career coaches and consultants; participation in two formal mentorship programs; designing and implementing a StrengthsFinder-based development program for interns; and experience with researching and connecting young adults with academic and professional development opportunities. I have tutored clients in career development, and take online courses myself in relevant subject areas. I am a member of two local Society for Human Resources chapters, which gives me access to material useful for helping others in their career path. I am especially knowledgeable in the StrengthsFinder system, and am also familiar with personality assessments such as MBTI, VIA Character Survey, and the Big Five.

Public Speaking

Public speaking is often a stressful experience for people, yet it can be one of the most enjoyable, rewarding activities given the right skills and confidence! Throughout my academic and professional career, I've developed not only solid public speaking skills, but an appreciation for how to develop and project confidence and authority. My experience includes participation in (and later judging for) Lincoln-Douglas debate; defending my views in seminar classes for my BA and MA in Political Science; delivering a Master's Thesis defense; participation in public speaking workshops; giving project proposals and other business presentations; moderating discussion groups at educational seminars; and introducing speakers at conferences.

Brilliant and Encouraging Tutor

I had previously taken Philosophy and Religion in the Middle Ages and just passed with a C+. At Loyola, we have a +/- grading system which makes things harder in terms of GPA. When I found out I was required to take another philosophy course, I was not thrilled. At the midterm, I got a C+ and decided if there was any way to get the Cum Laude I so desperately wanted, I would have to get a tutor to bring up my Philosophy grade (mind you, this was my final semester and I had at 3.49 so every grade mattered). William not only encouraged me and inspired creative thinking, but got me so engaged in Social Justice. I left each tutoring session feeling confident and more prepared for my final. William didn't just explain the material, he would challenge me to think about the topics critically for very deep understanding. Philosophy is hard. Let's just say it. The only way to get it is to work at it. I am so glad that I got William as a tutor. Not only did I get the Cum Laude, but I also finished the class with an A. The final went better than I could have imagined as I answered every question with confidence and pride. I stayed the whole time for the essay portion of the exam, because it was the first time I had so much to say. I am finishing my college career with more than I could have ever dreamed of and William has such a large part in that. He is brilliant. THANK YOU.

Quick and Helpful

Really appreciate William's help with Trevor. Very smart and pleasant to work with. The sentence structure and grammar are the key areas to focus on. Thanks again

William is a great listener who really empathized with my struggles trying to figure out what career path to take.

William gave me SO many resources and ideas as to how to approach my career change. Not knowing if what I'd like to transition into will even be something I will like is tricky, and William gave me ideas on websites I could use, and ways to reach out to others in the fields I am considering. I especially liked that he suggested fields where the types of people I enjoy being around, work. I had never thought of that- and realized that is a HUGE piece of the puzzle when it comes to job satisfaction. :)

Highly recommend!

William has focused the lessons specifically to my students needs and learning style. He has helped my student increase in both knowledge and confidence. William has a strong background in the topic he is tutoring and this shows in his ability to condense and explain exorbitant amounts of content. His expertise has enabled my student to know the facts, but more importantly, process the similarities, differences and consequences of each.

Great tutor. Explained where I understood.

He was great. He was able to go over the Econ info for my test where I feel like I now understand. I felt like I have a better understanding and will be able to apply to get correct answer. Great job. He was even understanding when I was a few minutes late due to traffic that vary a lot in the area
