Together, you and I will work toward giving you the confidence to solve the problems posed to you by the SAT math test, or courses such as middle school math, algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, differential equations, physics, or physical science.

I have a distinguished track record of teaching these classes and tutoring individual students. The students that I tutor go on to truly understand the subjects and perform at higher levels with respect to grades....

I invite you to review my over 1500 hours of tutoring experience with WyzAnt, my student/client ratings, and especially student feedback and testimonials.

I am a certified teacher in both mathematics and physics. My bachelor's degree is in electrical engineering. I acquired my teaching certificate through a program at Providence College.

My personal goal is for you to appreciate how clever you really are. I teach using models from the real world to allow you to see how scientists and mathematicians account for relationships and functions using different tools.

We can make this learning experience successful and fun.

I look forward to meeting you.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I strive to develop a student's Algebra skills from the basics of Middle School math and Pre - Algebra. I like to use models that help a student visualize the concepts of Algebra for greater true understanding (and less memorization).
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have succeeded at helping Algebra 2 students by framing the subject as "Algebra 1 on steroids". This involves seeing through the abstractions of Algebra 2, and developing the techniques to translate Algebra 2 level problems to a series of Algebra 1 level problems. I would welcome the chance to help!
Calculus,

Calculus

I enjoy tutoring Calculus! Calculus comes naturally to me in ways that I can translate "how it works" to students. My approach has yielded successful results. I model real world situations, then develop understandings of them graphically and analytically with students.
Geometry,

Geometry

I find that helping students succeed in Geometry helps them to succeed in further areas such as SAT tests, sciences like Physics and Chemistry, and higher maths like Precalculus and Calculus. To acquire Geometry skills, I work with student to think on paper! This helps them envision what the solutions look like with the process to get to the solution.
Physics,

Physics

I enjoy helping students learn Physics, making the subject highly approachable. I taught Physics as an Adjunct Professor at RWU. The students that adopted the pathways that I modeled went on to excel in class. I would welcome the opportunity to let you uncover the beauty of physics.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I enjoy helping students begin their study of higher level math courses like algebra and geometry by allowing them to develop strong number skills with integers and fractions. With my students, I try to develop an adherence to processes using graphical arrangements wherever possible, in order to help them develop confidence in the solutions that they derive.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

Precalculus seems like the link to truly higher order math. It combines algebra and geometry. My approach to helping students understand and truly learn precalculus involves introduction to analytic techniques/processes that are easy to master and become second nature. I would welcome the opportunity to help!
SAT Math

SAT Math

I enjoy helping students learn how to prepare for the SAT test for math. I use an approach that is methodical and gives students the confidence that they will then use to approach all types of problems that the Math SAT poses.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I enjoyed and excelled at my experiences taking differential equations courses at Northeastern University as the courses dealt directly with my major of electrical engineering. I have the ability to help you approach the problems posed by differential equations by tying the problems to real world situations. I can show you how to transform problems to simpler mathematics to reach solutions. Thank you. I look forward to helping you,

Trigonometry

I enjoy helping students learn techniques to succeed at trigonometry. One student of mine used techniques I developed on his tests and quizzes, when his physics teacher asked him about what he was doing. My student explained the techniques, and his teacher was thrilled. His teacher plans to use my techniques!

Excellent tutor - understands how the student learns and helps them achieve great results!

We highly recommend Fred as a math tutor! He starts by actually getting to know the student and understanding how they learn best, and then he tailors a tutoring program that is customized for each student. He is very easy to work with, flexible with scheduling, accessible, patient, and responsive. Fred has tutored our son as a sophomore and junior in high school where he has been enrolled in Honors and International Baccalaureate level math classes. With Fred's tutoring, he has achieved A's and B's in these advanced classes, and because of his strong academic results, our son was recently honored as a 2015 Rhode Island Scholar Athlete and also received Academic All State recognition. Many thanks to Fred for his support!

So far so good !!!

Needed help quickly for Calculus/IB math. Fred was responsive and gave a great lesson. Will be working with him again regularly—already have the next lessons booked

So helpful, knowledgeable and patient.

My son Jackson has been working with Fred about 3 months now. He was doing poorly in freshman algebra at his HS so we got him help over the summer to catch up. Fred has been so helpful to tackle Jackson's weaknesses in math and we continue to use his knowledge and 1:1 help through my son's sophomore year of HS. Jackson is not afraid to reach to Fred with topics he feels lost with and they have been working recently not only on Geometry but also on some concepts of "math chemistry" my son struggles with. This year first geometry test my son got 86 and that was a big success for him. We would highly recommend Fred to other students, he punctual, very pleasant and able to recognize student's weakness and work on their level to explain topics that he or she might find difficult to grasp. We are very glad we found Fred on Wyzant!

A pleasure to work with

Fred assisted my son with his Algebra 2 honors class for the last couple quarters of the year. He was kind, patient and always answered questions thoroughly and effectively thus furthering my son's understanding of the concepts. My son enjoyed working with Fred and actually requested to have him twice a week towards the end of the school year. Fred absolutely assisted my son in bringing his understanding to a new level and we will absolutely use him in the future should we have the need!

A great help!

Fred has been helping our daughter with geometry for several months. She failed this subject last year and with help from Fred once a week she has an A. He is also helping her with SAT math. She understands all her math homework and he helps her prepare for exams. We will continue to use his services.

Helpful, personalized lesson!

Fred helped me conceptualize the ideas being taught in my undergrad physics II course. He help me understand the ideas behind the equations being used so that I could know when and where to use each one. Thank you so much!

Makes College Physics approachable!

My college freshman daughter said Fred was, "Very good!! Very easy to understand." We are excited to see how she progresses with his help through the end of the semester. Flexible about extending and adding dates too.
