I have been a teacher for many years. It is part of me the same way it is to breath. I have taught elementary grades k-5 and my last 20 years of teaching was as a reading specialist grades 3-8. Reading is the key to do well in all other subjects as well as life. It is my favorite thing to teach. I have been a teacher for many years. It is part of me the same way it is to breath. I have taught elementary grades k-5 and my last 20 years of teaching was as a reading specialist grades 3-8. Reading is the key to do well in all other subjects as well as life. It is my favorite thing to teach. While teaching at both the elementary and middle school level I was also an adjunct at several well known colleges and what I taught??? You guessed it. I taught teachers how to teach reading. There is no greater high in the world than the feeling you get when reading makes sense to the struggling reader. I want students to love reading as much as I do. I would love the opportunity to teach your child and help them to become an independent and self-regulated reader.

One of the universities I taught at was an Online university so I am well versed in teaching on an online platform and have actually find that students do very well in this format. Additionally I also had my own "face to face" tutoring business that was very successful. I even had a waiting list. You can rest assured that I know what I am doing and I can help your child. I am the mother of 4 grown children, all readers and 10 grandchildren who have been read to by their parents since they were born. Needless to say part of every Christmas present and Birthday presents are books.

Once you decide to chose me as a tutor you can contact me by phone or email. Looking forward to talking to you soon. I look forward to working with your child.

I taught at the elementary school level for 25 years. I have taught all grades k-5. I have done looping and when I did all parents requested to loop up with me. I loved to teach all subjects, but my absolute favorite was Reading/Language Arts. For subjects such as Social Studies and Science I did a performanced based classroom where the children worked on projects such as producing Revolutionary Times 4 page News Paper that was published by the local town paper. They also did an Invention Convention as well as a Living Museum to mention a few. Virtual Field Trips to different communities around the world were often taken. I feel that I am well qualified to tutor students in this grade level and help them meet with success. I have been a Reading Specialist for over 20 years working in grades 1-8th. I am a certified Reading Recovery teacher and well trained in Fountas and Pinnel Literacy Program. As a Reading Specialist I designed a Guided Reading Program for grades 3-5 that was later decided to be used by all 5 elementary schools in the district. When I worked at the middle school level, the school was at first a school in need of improvement. I worked with teachers, providing staff development and we were a school in good standing the very next year. Each year I chose a skill to work on and provided the necessary staff development to implement the skill at all grade levels in all academic subjects. Each year we improved turning scores of 2 into 3. In my own teaching I had many students that came to me in 6th grade reading on a second grade level. All my students were on grade level for their ability to read the words and literal comprehension by the 8th grade level.
