A graduate of both Holy Cross College and Cornell University (where I served as a Teaching Assistant for 2 years), I worked for Marriott Corporation as (among other jobs) translator/interpreter for JW Marriott, the President/CEO. At the time that I left Marriott, I was the General Manager of a Conference Center outside of Atlanta. While with Marriott, I facilitated many more training courses that I can accurately remember, and enjoyed it very much. In fact, most of my Marriott career was spent teaching others how to perform their jobs better.
My Marriott Career took me from New York state, to New Jersey, to Puerto Rico, to the corporate headquarters in Bethesda, MD, to Charleston, SC, and to Peachtree City, GA (outside of Atlanta). After leaving Marriott in Peach Tree City, we went to Orlando, to St. Thomas in the USVI, back to Puerto Rico, back to Peachtree City, on to Sherborn (MA) and finally NH.
In addition, I have been to Mexico, Canada, Italy (3 times), Paris, and Beijing and Shanghai in China. These travels have given me a great insight into the importance of being able to speak and communicate in more than one language. In addition to Spanish and English, I speak and read intermediate Italian, as well as beginner’s French.
I am a native speaker of Spanish, and have been involved with teaching and/or translating it for most of my adult life. I enjoy both the language and teaching, so why not help other derive the same pleasure.
Are you aware that there are more than 450 million native speakers of Spanish, making it second only to Chinese in terms of the most spoken languages in the world? English is just behind Spanish, with approximately 360 million native speakers. Spanish is the third most studied language in the world, after English and French.
