Hi! My name is Safiya and I am studying at the University of Texas at Austin in the College of Education. I have wanted to pursue education for as long as I can remember, and have sought out ways to do so locally. I have been tutoring for several years, and have been with my current student for the fourth year now.
I have also worked as a Teacher Assistant in a 3rd grade Special Education classroom for a year, in which I had the opportunity to create and deliver lesson plans, and work one-on-one with students who needed more assistance. I incorporate the skills I learned from my mentor in my tutoring. I am flexible and easygoing when creating schedules. I am also welcoming of parents' input and will do everything I can to meet the student's needs!

I have been tutoring for 4 years in math, starting at 6th grade math to Algebra 1, and hope to continue with this student in years to come. I have had exceptional grades in math during high school, and have shown the same mastery so far in college.

I learned piano for 11 years. Although I do not continue learning anymore, I have a strong foundation of piano theory as well as learning pieces. While I was a piano student I participated, and medaled, in auditions, as well as played in annual recitals and performances for the public. I also received a medal for the state theory test every year.

I hope to help students in any way I can, and would love to help my students succeed!
