Hey there, I'm Louis --- a Houston native that graduated with honors from Wake Forest University in North Carolina with a degree in mathematical economics in 2022 (GPA of 3.76). During my time in college, I discovered my passion for tutoring. It started with me helping my friends with their mathematics and statistics assignments. Fast-forward a few months, through word of mouth from my friends, I ended up receiving many requests for help explaining and working through various mathematical topics. These experiences sparked my passion for tutoring and I looked for more official ways to get involved and was able to become a volunteer tutor through the Math honors department at Wake where I partnered with a local middle school to tutor various math topics such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and much more.

During my time in college, I continued volunteering as a tutor for three years. I often encountered students who struggled in their classes due to a lack of confidence in understanding the subject material. As a tutor, my approach is to work with students to build confidence in their abilities by employing strategies tailored to their individual needs. For instance, some students prefer to work quickly, solving multiple problems in a session to boost their confidence, while others prefer a slower pace to ensure accuracy before moving on to the next question. I have experience tutoring diverse groups of students and customize my strategies to meet each student's specific needs, fostering a deeper understanding and engagement with the material.

On a personal note, I possess a calm and relaxed demeanor that creates a conducive learning environment. I also value and welcome any feedback from parents, and I am committed to incorporating their goals into the initial objectives I set with their student. This collaborative approach ensures that everyone involved feels they are benefiting from the tutoring experience.
