Hello, I'm Craig! I have a BA degree in Political Science, a MA degree in Crime, Law and Justice (criminology and criminal justice; not legal studies), and a Ph.D. in Sociology (the latter two from Penn State). Hello, I'm Craig! I have a BA degree in Political Science, a MA degree in Crime, Law and Justice (criminology and criminal justice; not legal studies), and a Ph.D. in Sociology (the latter two from Penn State). I have been a full-time college professor for the last 14 years, and I’m here because I love working with learners of all ages!
My teaching experiences started when I was a teenager. I taught people how to swim while in high school and college. In my pre-professor days, I was a volunteer for the literacy volunteers of America for 3 years teaching adults how to read. I also did a variety of tutoring primarily related to digital photography and using computers, using my experience as a wedding and concert photographer to help students learn digital cameras, digital photo processing, and just general creative photography (this was my day job at the time)
As a professor, I have taught over 20 different social science courses including our Senior Research Class, Research Methods and Statistics, Intro to Sociology, Intro to Criminal Justice, Crim Theory, Deviance and Social Control, White Collar Crime, Marriage and the Family (and many more - just ask), in classes ranging from large 120-person lectures to 1-on-1 research mentorships. I have even taught college classes in a few different American prisons! I have hundreds of hours of working 1-on-1 with students of all ages, whether in person or using the latest technology and video conferencing (or even meeting in VR). For those needing help with statistics, I have experience teaching students using SPSS, MS Excel, and Stata software packages.
I can also provide advice and guidance designed to help you adjust to life in college and general "adulting,” very much like I do for my student advisees.
If you need tutoring in Social Science Research Methods and/or statistics, in Sociology, Criminology/Criminal Justice, or you just need help adjusting to live in college and getting the work done, I look forward to hearing from you!
