Hello, my name is Dan, and I have been a lifelong educator in a number of teaching, tutoring, and training settings.

From the time I was in high school, I knew that I wanted to teach history, geography, and psychology. It has allowed me to not only be creative in the classroom but also to strive to build new life skills within my students.

I was fortunate to attend Illinois State University in the teacher education program and successfully completed both the academic requirements and the student teaching program at Provios HS in Maywood and Hillside, Illinois.

I went on to teach full-time social studies classes on suburban HS campuses for seven years. Along with teaching conventional classes in American history & American government, I was able to select and teach curriculum content classes in psychology, geography, criminal justice, cinema studies, and consumer education. My approach with students was always interactive, aiming to motivate and stimulate the individual student in applying classroom knowledge to everyday life.

Designing and developing appropriate study skills to match the students' level and comprehension has always been a primary responsibility of mine. I look at the goals and objectives of tutoring and help create a comprehensive plan to go forward with the student that will help them meet their learning goals.

In addition to teaching, I was actively involved in coaching HS basketball and a variety of programs supporting students' individual needs. I was fortunate to be identified in "America's Who's Who of High School Teachers." I have also taught at the junior college and the university level as an adjunct, helping adult learners master the skills and competences for working in the world at large.

I have a master's degree in educational technology and have designed and developed courseware for schools, businesses, and educational programs. These programs have included training and academic content in print, video, web-based, and e-learning delivery systems. I have a strong

I attended Willowbrook High School and successfully completed the American Cinema Studies program at the school and acquired a lifelong appreciation for critical film studies. I taught the program at Lincoln Way High School as well as special semester on Science fiction films in the 11th and 12th grade programs of the social studies curriculum. I utilized techniques learned in formal development of instructional films and business productions; producing scripts, selecting actors and film teams to produce and deliver video products via VHS, DVD, Webcast, and E--learning platforms. I enjoy both both foreign and domestic films and have attended the Chicago film festival on numerous occasions to access a variety of venues and artists. I like to challenge a new viewer with a couple of recommendations and discuss their view of the film as a spectator and as a future critic.

Dan K. As a Computer Tutor

Dan took my lead as to what I need first with my computers-- the application to my job. I find myself very challenged by things I don't know, and don't really have the training to do-especially quickly when all the work has to be done fast. So we got right into what I needed and I plan to continue on with him.
