I have taught writing to inner-city middle schoolers to graduate students. My most recent college students called me a "wild old man" because they had fun and learned so much in my classes.

I was a reporter, editor, and columnist for UPI, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and Atlanta Magazine. I wrote a book about the Georgia-Pacific Company when it celebrated its 75th anniversary. I also worked as a TV director, a speechwriter and publicist for IBM and a public relations agency. I was a New York City Teaching Fellow and taught special ed and writing classes at I.S. 228. I taught college students at UGA, Long Island University/Brooklyn Campus, and Georgia College and State University. I love teaching students to write clear, interesting prose.

I'm a professional writer who loves to teach people to write well. As a reporter, I covered an exciting range of subjects, including country music, stock car racing, NASA launches, and murder trials. I've engaged in journalism, corporate writing, and education. I helped middle schoolers with test prep and graduate students with job prep.

Contact me if you want to write clearly with impact for your job or schoolwork. Have fun with your writing as it starts to shine. Because the average American adult reads at the 8th-grade level, I emphasize clarity and simplicity. I love the old saying: "Put the hay down where the goats can get it." I emphasize the importance of writing with humor and empathy. My schedule is flexible. Online only.
