Hi! I'm April! I have been teaching for 18 years, both at the high school and college level. I have an active PA teaching certificate, graduated with an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, and went on to obtain a Master's of Education in Secondary Mathematics. I first discovered my love of teaching and helping others in my senior year of high school, when helping my peers with math during and after school.
I have taught levels Prealgebra through Calculus, including Honors Geometry at the high school level. I love to see students grow in confidence and to change their attitude towards math.
My teaching approach is interactive. I aim to convey concepts in an easy to understand manner and love to share tips/tricks to help students retain the concepts they are learning. I want students to participate and communicate. That includes asking questions and coming prepared with certain topics in mind. I encourage students and parents to send me topics prior to our session. In an effort to allow students to discover what suits their learning style, I like to explain and show concepts in various ways. My many years of experience allow me to understand where students frequently make mistakes or have misunderstandings.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to set up a tutoring session.
