Hello! My name is Anne and I am a writer and language coach with ten years tutoring experience.

I graduated from NYU where I studied Comparative Literature and Spanish. After school I went on to write professionally and to teach children and young adults both in the United States and abroad in Spain.

I am passionate about helping others to communicate effectively in pursuit of their academic and professional goals.

Hello! My name is Anne and I am a writer and language coach with ten years tutoring experience.

I graduated from NYU where I studied Comparative Literature and Spanish. After school I went on to write professionally and to teach children and young adults both in the United States and abroad in Spain.

I am passionate about helping others to communicate effectively in pursuit of their academic and professional goals.

My students vary in age, background and skill level. I fully welcome the variety, as each experience broadens my creative reach as a teacher. That being said, my ultimate goal is to cultivate a customized learning strategy that maximizes the effort and time that each individual student brings to their lessons.

I have committed myself to studying language training and have concluded that, by identifying my student's learning style(s) early on, I'm able to accelerate his or her proficiency far beyond the limits imposed by the traditional classroom.

My Philosophy in a Nutshell is this:
Anyone can improve their writing, learn to read with greater comprehension, boost their memory and attention, or excel at a second language; the key ingredient is a sincere openness to the varieties of learning methods available to teachers and their students. As a student of Comparative Literature at NYU, I dedicated more time and energy to reading (and writing about what I was reading) than to nearly any other activity. My curriculum was broad and explored the most famous works of fiction from around the world: Greek mythology, the BIble, Shakespeare's plays and Russian novels as thick as bricks and nearly as heavy. I am also acquainted with contemporary literature and literary theory. Of course, I cannot read every book that has ever been written, but I DO know how to teach my students the value of literature and how to write about it in a meaningful way (that will impress their teachers/professors!). I enjoy working with students of all ages and backgrounds. I have no problem helping with writing assignments--from brainstorming, outlining and ultimately editing/proofreading the final draft. Exercises in reading and writing about literature will also be helpful to students who are looking to improve their standardized test scores and I'm glad to tailor my lessons toward that goal, as well.

Anne explains grammar in a whole new way and it doesn't feel like work!

I really like that Anne starts the lesson with what I already know and builds up to the complicated stuff so all the steps make sense. Anne is very very patient and never boring. She is interested in me as a person and always reminds me that making mistakes is a part of learning.
