Hi! I'm Ms. Brittany!
I have been teaching in the public and catholic school system for 12 years. I am a graduate of Southern University at New Orleans. I hold a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and Family Studies, and an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have held a variety of positions in education; for example, Middle School Teacher in Math & English, Elementary Teacher (K-7), Academic Math Coach, Lead Math Teacher, and Pre-K Teacher. I am currently a Middle School Math Teacher for 5th through 7th grade.
I have been tutoring math for 10 years to students in grades K-7. My tutoring approach is the " I do, We do, You do" method. This approach allows me to show a step-by-step process of how to solve specific math problems during the "I do" stage, during the "We do" stage both the student and I work through the steps of solving a math problem together. During the final stage, " You do", the student is given the opportunity to solve math problems by themselves. I provide feedback at the end of the process. At the end of the process, we discuss corrections, errors, and steps to move forward in solving math problems. I am able to help students with no knowledge of a math concept and get them to grade level; in addition, to helping students that need assistance with a specific math concept. I am available to tutor students for one session or ongoing tutoring sessions through Wyzant. I look forward to working with you!
