Greetings students and parents! My name is Matt. I am offering my services as a tutor in a wide variety of classes from Elementary through High School.

I am patient and understanding of all the issues facing students preparing for a test or struggling with school work. I have over 30 years of experience working with students of all ages from very diverse backgrounds. My focus is for each student to realize their full potential.

Greetings students and parents! My name is Matt. I am offering my services as a tutor in a wide variety of classes from Elementary through High School.

I am patient and understanding of all the issues facing students preparing for a test or struggling with school work. I have over 30 years of experience working with students of all ages from very diverse backgrounds. My focus is for each student to realize their full potential.

Make your selection based on your child’s needs. Some student’s scores don’t improve. But their confidence and understanding does. Last year students increased their scores:

1)Avedia raised her ACT from 22 up to 26. Her percentile rank rose from 62nd up to 83rd.
2)Mylare raised his ACT from 25 up to 30. His percentile rank rose from 79th up to 95th.
3)Isly raised her SAT from 1200 up to 1340. Her percentile rank rose from 81st up to 94th.
4)Petrone raised his SAT from 1070 up to 1280. His percentile rose from 61st up to 87th.

I am extremely effective in preparing students for these tests. I teach how to maximize the number correct. I teach strategy. We practice together ensuring proficiency. Students practice with full passages. We review homework. We discuss ways to eliminate errors. Please see my student testimonials.

Critical reasoning is the secret. We work on how to quickly analyze reading passages to identify issues then efficiently select the correct answer and move on.

I review concepts and check for understanding. Oftentimes there are underlying issues that may be affecting their progress. I provide reading options matched to their preferred learning style. I teach writing that makes the reader glad, mad, or sad.

While completing courses for my Masters Degree in elementary education at Aquinas College, I had the good fortune of taking mathematics courses from Dr. Jan Shroyer. She taught many mathematics methods. Primarily she focused on the development of math concepts, not only in kindergarten but all the way throughout every math subject. From Dr. Shroyer I learned to start from visual and tactile. Students and parents may call this instruction as playing games but there really is deep reasoning backed by numerous research studies. It is when kids tire of playing 'the game' that their insightful thoughts are turned into equations and in-turn algorithms.
