Hello, my name is Michelle, and I am a patient teacher who has been tutoring students of all ages since 2013. I have tutored many students that have been identified with special needs including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD/ADD, anxiety, OCD,, and dyslexia. Hello, my name is Michelle, and I am a patient teacher who has been tutoring students of all ages since 2013. I have tutored many students that have been identified with special needs including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD/ADD, anxiety, OCD,, and dyslexia. Prior to tutoring, I taught high school science for five years and middle school math and science for two years. I have a PhD in biology, a multiple subject teaching credential for elementary education, a biotechnology certificate, and a bachelor's degree in microbiology.

I am an excellent math, science, and reading teacher and have taught students to be successful in other subjects too. I also teach test prep skills and passed the CBEST on my first try. The science classes that I have taught students to understand and succeed in are general science, Earth science, biology, microbiology, middle and elementary school science. I have also taught students to comprehend and succeed in general math, pre-algebra, and algebra. I have also improved students' reading and writing skills. I have taught students grammar, reading comprehension, phonics, and writing. Perhaps the most important information I teach falls under the category of study skills, which I incorporate into every subject. I emphasize how and what to study, as well as test taking skills. I have experience tutoring people of all ages, from preschool through high school and college graduates.

I usually do a brief initial assessment of the student's strengths and areas which need improvement. Next, I tailor my teaching methods to the students' needs. My daughter has been working with Michelle for several years, starting when she was 4. We started at the beginning of the pandemic when we worried that our daughter wasn't getting the academic skills she needed to be ready for kindergarten. Michelle worked with her on reading, writing, and math over Zoom. Michelle adjusted each lesson to push my daughter but to still help her feel confident and engaged. Michelle added a science session to each lesson to continue to engage my daughter's curiosity. Michelle has been an engaging, patient, and kind teacher, all over Zoom, which is especially impressive.
