I have my degree in Mathematics from the University of Arkansas. Before I came to the U of A I was a student at Rogers High School. I loved math even back then. My junior year of high school I took College Algebra, College Trig, and Pre-Cal. My senior year of high school I took AP Cal and AP Stat.

I have been tutoring for about 3 years now. I have tutored everything from elementary math all the way up to Calculus 1. I have even helped a student bring their grade from a D up to an A in AP Calculus and Pre-Cal. I believe that not every student learns materials the same way and as such I strive to use any method I can to help a student to understand their subject matter. If I don't know a topic I will find materials to teach it to myself so that I may then help the student. I don't feel like I have done my best until the student is comfortable and confident in the subject matter. I encourage students to ask me questions and to tell me when they don't understand.

Elementary Math

All levels of math are like building blocks. You must know your "basics" to progress to the next level. It is essential that every student have a basic understanding of math to succeed in other areas.

English

ACT English

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 takes what was taught in prealgebra and expands the material. To succeed in algebra it is very important that students understood the materials from prealgebra. Even if they didn't understand prealgebra I can bring them up to speed and help them keep going.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 builds off of Algebra 1 materials. Algebra 2 is the step before Pre-Cal. Having a firm understanding of Algebra 2 will provide an easier transition to Pre-Cal.
Calculus,

Calculus

I took AP Calculus as a senior in high school and loved every minute of it. I took calculus 1 again after my freshmen year of college and enjoyed it just as much if not more. This subject requires multiple thought processes and understanding. To help students I try to relate the subject matter to something they already know and understand. I make a point not to just do the work for them.
Geometry,

Geometry

I love this subject. Having taken Foundations of Geometry in college I know why it is that things work the way they do in Geometry. I hope to bring a real world understanding of the subject to better equip my students.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

Prealgebra introduces new ideas that can be tricky at first. I feel that students need to understand why something works the way it does. I can provide multiple ways of looking at something to help students understand.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

Pre-Cal takes the material covered by Trigonometry and Algebra 2 and combines them. This can be very troubling for students.
SAT Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

The best way to approach ACT math is to eliminate the answers that don't fit. I can help student find things to look for that will help them finish the section quickly with plenty of time to go back and check their answers.

Highly recommend

Kristin met us and helped my son with precalculus and gave him study tips as well. Her communication was prompt and courteous and she was very accommodating with the meeting location. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor!

Helpful Tutor

Kristin was a big help on her first visit getting my son ready for a big test in Pre-Calc. She reviewed his past tests and was able to show him where he was going wrong.
