Hello! My name is Ethan, and I'm a current undergraduate at the University of Colorado.

In high school, I scored a 1500 (99th percentile) on the SAT. This year, I took the MCAT and scored a 516 (92nd percentile), raising my score by 20 points from my original diagnostic test score of 496. As your tutor, my goal is to maximize your time and resources in achieving your goals. With years of science tutoring and TAing experience, I know that there is no one-size-fits-all for every student, as everyone has different strengths, and I believe in adapting to your own way of learning. I genuinely think that preparation strategy—rather than sheer quantity—makes a big difference in how well you perform on test day.

Please reach out with any questions you may have for me, and I'm looking forward to working with you!

Hymned as a “one-of-a-kind, naturally-gifted performer with revolutionary flair, poetic sensitivity, and exceptional technical ability,” Ethan James performs all over the world as a soloist and alongside symphony and chamber orchestras. He has performed in world-famous venues including the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater in Morrison, and Theatre Vipiteno in Sterzing, and has formed ongoing collaborations in concert with artists such as Michael Allen Harrison, Benjamin Laude, and Michael K. Woods. James was born in Denver, Colorado but grew up in Portland, Oregon for most of his childhood. He started taking lessons from a local teacher at her home studio when he was just five years old and gave his first public recital at the age of six. Fourteen years later and counting, his natural-born gift and passion for the piano continue to grow. Now a classical pianist, artistic performer, and musical philanthropist, James utilizes new technology and innovation to institute classical music into the realm of 21st century pop culture. Moreover, with unprofaned talent on and off the stage, he strives to unite his listeners from all over the world through the universal and unspoken language of music. Driven to bring people of all backgrounds together through music, the piano has brought James a tremendous amount of recognition: he was presented with the 1st Place award in the 2019 MTNA Concerto Competition and was one of five pianists accepted into the IRMS Orfeo Music Academy, subsequently earning himself a solo performance in the Orfeo Music Festival that same year. He is also the recipient of the 1st Place award in the OMTA Tom O’Brien Competition, Portland Young Pianists Piano Competition, MTNA Competition, and OMTA Syllabus X Competition. Besides playing in concerts and competing for awards, James is a huge advocate for and contributor to the growth of classical music across society. In his limited free time, he volunteers as a youth strings accompanist as well as performs to
