I've always enjoyed one-on-one work with students, since this best allows me to pinpoint and address the student's areas of confusion. Every learner is different and I believe it's important for tutors to identify and adapt to the learning styles of their students. I aim to be flexible and creative; since we live in a physical world, I like to use familiar phenomena as examples to discuss physics and astronomy concepts.

I have 13 years of experience teaching in both formal and informal education, and have frequently tutored math and physics for high school and college students. I've taught pre-K through graduate level courses and workshops, primarily physics, astronomy, and math. For over four years I worked at a world-renowned institution, sharing my passion for astronomy with self-selected middle and high school students from all over NYC.

At Vega-Bray Observatory and multiple planetaria, I've taught astronomy to families with young children. As an Astrophysics Educator at the American Museum of Natural History I taught interactive, activity-based workshops in astrophysics and planetary science for elementary students and their parents.

Physics

My son had negative attitude about how he couldn't learn online. This tutor was awesome. When he was done with tutoring he stated she was really good. He said when she saw he was little confused, she gave different example to make him understand.

Smart, relatable and helpful tutor

Irene was great. We sent her some general information about the specific areas that needed to be addressed before our first session, and it was clear that Irene understood the material and was ready to help. In a very short time, she brought my daughter up to speed on the material she needed. Highly recommend.
