I know tutors who are subject area experts, able to effortlessly and expertly assist students in a select few areas. On the other hand you have tutors that are good at a variety of subjects yet master none. Some value a personal connection with students, others prefer to maintain a professional distance. My reason for writing this? It's crucial that as a student or parent of a student you select a person with the style that works best for you!

My name is Dyane and I consider myself an excellent and unorthodox tutor. My style? Whatever works for the student! I pride myself on the my ability to adjust my tutoring style into a format that my students will understand. Some students perform better when they understand the concept. Some students may respond favorably to a lecture style format. Others need more visual aids in order to commit information to memory. I'm extremely personable and believe that this greatly contributes to the efficacy of my tutoring. In order to find the best style for the student, I need to understand the student themselves, what makes them tick and what motivates them. My passion for helping others fuels my desire to tutor.

I've tutored both formally (for UNLV's Academic Success Center and Super Tutors) and informally (private tutoring and family) for over 7 years. I've tutored a wide variety of subjects and I'm just as adept tutoring Middle School Math as I am Organic Chemistry II. I have extensive experience tutoring students for the ASVAB, GED, College Algebra I and II, Geometry, and General Chemistry (121 and 122). I sincerely enjoy tutoring students for the GED, as it's one of the first subjects I started tutoring. I love the challenge of preparing non-traditional students as this is one of the few subjects that requires constant shifting of tutoring styles to find a perfect medium for both tutor and student. I've helped several students ace the ASVAB test, particularly the Math section. I believe in working with harder Math material so that the actual test will be much more manageable. My students have all achieved above the minimum AFQT score for their respective military branch, which is crucial now that the military has become more selective. Achieving the minimum score may result in delays as applicants with much higher scores will be given preference.

Knowledgeable, Patient and fun tutor

I am preparing for the Air Force Officer Qualifying Tesf (AFOQT) and I needed to freshen up my math skills with word problems, arithmetic reasoning and math knowledge. It has been a while since I graduated college so I needed a tutor. I came across Dyane and decided to book him for 2 days. It was a short amount of time but it was worth every dollar. He takes time to get to know his student and see where their strengths and weaknesses are. He shows different techniques to coming to a solution to the problem and then allows the student to pick what works for them best and which would better allow them to retain what they learned. Really patient and knows the material especially taught me couple of tricks on how to solve the problem faster and much efficient as each section of the test you're being timed like the SATs or ASVAB. Thank you Dyane!
