As a Doctor (PhD) of English, former English instructor at Harvard and Northeastern Universities, and current Professor of Critical Text Analysis at University of New Mexico, I have extensive experience ensuring student success and teaching online in a way tailored to individual student needs.
My work as a tutor began after I received my BA with Highest Honors and Distinction in the English major from UC Santa Barbara. In the seven years since, I have taken pride in my ability to tutor high school and college students from a wide range of backgrounds and levels while teaching writing and literature courses at the university level. The PhD in English I received from Northeastern in 2023 equips me to ensure student success, no matter the student.
In all of my teaching, both in the college classroom and one on one, I aspire to help students become better readers and writers and, ultimately, responsible and ethical citizens. I have a proven track record of success. My tutoring clients have been admitted to universities like Johns Hopkins, UC Berkeley, and the Gallatin school at NYU using essays we developed; I am just as proud to say that I have helped graduate students defend dissertations on advanced STEM and humanities topics.
My accolades are a testament to my abilities. During the PhD program, I won the Graduate Essay Prize from the Northeastern English Department, published work in the interdisciplinary journal ImageText, and completed each phase of the program with Distinction. At UCSB, I graduated with Highest Honors, the Dean of Undergraduate Education Award, English Honors, Distinction in the Major, the Academic Excellence Award, Letters and Sciences Honors 2012-2016, Dean's Honors 2012-2016, and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Before college, I attained a 2260 SAT score, with a perfect 800 on writing. Upon pursuing my graduate education, I scored a 168 on the Verbal Reasoning portion of the GRE and a 5.5 on the Analytical Writing portion, putting me in the top 2% of test-takers.
