Welcome! I'm Nathan, an experienced tutor and former university professor with a passion for teaching Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, and Data Science. With a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and graduate work in Applied Statistics and Numerical Analysis, I have the academic background and practical knowledge to help students excel in these subjects.

Over the past 9 years, I've dedicated myself to teaching at the university level and tutoring students one-on-one, accumulating over 4000 hours of tutoring experience. My students have ranged from high school to university undergraduates, each with unique learning styles and academic challenges. Through this journey, I've developed a teaching approach that emphasizes understanding foundational concepts and applying them to solve complex problems. This method has proven effective, as evidenced by my students' achievements, such as improving test scores by an average of 20 points in less than three weeks.

My tutoring sessions are more than just preparing for the next test; they're about mastering the material for long-term success. I focus on identifying and strengthening weak areas, enhancing problem-solving skills, and fostering a deep understanding of the subject matter. This approach ensures that my students are not only prepared for their current coursework but also equipped with the knowledge and confidence to tackle future challenges.

I believe that everyone can excel in mathematics with the right guidance and support. If you're seeking a tutor who can provide personalized attention, clear explanations, and a commitment to your academic growth, let's embark on this educational journey together. "Nathan is awesome! I found him online as my 16- and 13-year-old were struggling with math. He had great reviews here so I reached out to him. So glad I did! He makes the tutor scene seamless in a busy life. He makes it so easy with great tech tools for scheduling and payment. My oldest would have fire in the eyes and flipped a table over math, even right before tutoring. She spends an hour working with Nathan and the fire is gone and she's back to chill mode! Voodoo magic math man! Nathan spends the time to find where you are disconnected with math and is so intuitive on how to communicate. I highly recommend Nathan for your math needs!" DeAnna I have been teaching and/or tutoring Algebra I since 2003 at the middle school, high school, and university level, in person and online. Algebra requires patience and attention to detail, which I help the student achieve while at the same time converting frustration into determination and growth.

Increased test scores by average of 20 points in less than 3 weeks

Nathan was my tutor for Calculus 2. He was knowledgeable about every topic we talked about and patient with his explanations. We solved problems together instead of him just explaining everything so that I really understood the material. Nathan does a really excellent job laying out helpful formulas and notes to help solve complex problems. He is also very patient when explaining and was very flexible with his schedule. The way he solves problems is very thorough to the point where I can go back to our old work and remember every step we did. I would not hesitate to recommend Nathan to friends and family so if you’re looking for a tutor he is a great choice.

Kind and Helpful tutor that knows his subject.

Nathan is a smart, kind, and helpful tutor more math topics. Each session I would come in with a new topic that had just been assigned and I had no clue how to do it. Nathan knew how to do almost any problem that was assigned and helped me work through it thoroughly to make sure I actually understood it. He didn't just help me finish the work, but guided me the whole way through and made sure that i understood the overall topic rather than just individual questions. He is incredibly smart and good at math and he is always supportive if I didn't understand anything.

Patient and methodical for a novice learner

As a graphic designer I'm embarking on some new skills as I work to gain my Masters in Data Visualization. Learning to analyze data in R as well as learning to code in R can be a bit overwhelming as a novice. With Nathan, things fall into place and I find myself actually excited to analyze data and learn different ways of approaching visualization so that work is meaningful. He explains things to me in a way that I can understand what's going on. And in a foundational way. I can't wait to learn more!

Nathan was a great fit for my son

Nathan was a great fit for my son and helped him study for concepts that he was struggling learning in the classroom. Nathan worked with my son to improve his overall math grade and to get a 94% on his Math final. Nathan was very organized and used online tools to help make the concepts more clear for my son. We will be using him again in the future and definitely recommend!
