Over a dozen years teaching English Composition, literature, and writing courses allows me to appreciate how students feel about the challenge of essay assignments. I have taught at Wichita State University, Washburn University, Baker University, Ottawa University, Kansas State University, and Barton Community College. While this experience has made me an expert in education, I also relate deeply to students' struggles with the blank page because of my own pursuits in creative writing.

My experience with English Comp. began way back when I tutored as an undergraduate at K-State then taught Composition 1 and 2 as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Wichita State University. I have gone on to acquire a decade of experience teaching college writing courses, including at Kansas State University, Washburn University, Baker University, Ottawa University, and Barton Community College. My assignments have included beginning, advanced, and developmental composition classes. I held a lectureship at Washburn from 2003 to 2008 which involved co-created the Department’s Developmental English course.

Whatever your worries and goals, we will work together to reframe the creative process, so the emphasis is on its value rather than the struggle. Remember that your own uniqueness serves as the wellspring of intellectual pursuits. Pitfalls and defeats in the classroom are not signs of unworthiness but part of learning.
