My experience and style:

ESL: Teacher of English and Spanish as a Second Language
Math: Elementary, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry

I have been teaching professionally for over 9 years. I have been teaching as a volunteer for over 20 years.

I have been trained in 28 effective teaching methods. I determine the methods to use by first determining the student preferred learning style. He may be a visual learner, an auditory learner, a tactile learner, or a kinetic learner. He may need a combination of methods. It's all about the student and how he prefers to process new information. My students become engaged. They have fun again. Their self confidence improves. Their grades reflect that quickly.

Some of the effective methods include: bouncing a balloon on the non-dominant elbow and reciting new concepts. Juggling scarves while reciting target facts. Jumping rope while reciting new information. Both hemispheres of the brain are engaged at the same time. (Not a easy assignment to do.) The student's brain comes alive and new connections are formed. Memory is created and retained.

These kinds of methos are especially successful with people with physical or mental challenges.

I would be happy to demonstrate these skills with you.

Breakthrough Tutor

Elizabeth H. is a great tutor! She is so nice and was very encouraging to my son. She helped him to find confidence again. She helped him to enjoy learning again. He went from getting F's on his Algebra tests to B's. She really cares about her students. I recommend her highly!

Knowledge of Material

Very friendly and organized she walked me through all the steps and demonstrated a visual of what the Word Problems look like. Communication was also key to my understanding of Algebra principles.

Zandra, 2 lessons with Elizabeth

Knowledgeable and patient teacher

Helped me prepare to pass my Cbest test. I learned a lot of techniques from her as well as study strategies. I would definitely recommend her for anyone having trouble passing the Cbest.

Patient and encouraging

Elizabeth has a special calmness about herself that many individuals who are afraid of math need! My anxiety quickly turned into calmness which allowed me to remember the information, only my first session looking forward to more and passing my next placement exam ! Me and Elizabeth met 11 times on my last 2 sessions we reviewed everything I learned that Friday I went back to take the assessment exam which I originally failed twice ! I PASSED !!! Elizabeth truly has an art of teaching that really works she tutors her students as an individual, if u want great results she is your pick, I am going to continue using her as my tutor in January when I start at my university! :) if this app had 6 stars I would, so I rate 5 easily.
