About Heather

Bio

Hello, my name is Heather and I am a Tinkergarten outdoor class leader, and a former Title 1 reading and elementary school teacher who loves working with children of all ages. I currently lead Tinkergarten outdoor play based learning classes, and I recently taught in Title 1 reading in Maine and previously taught four and a half years in Massachusetts and Maine. Hello, my name is Heather and I am a Tinkergarten outdoor class leader, and a former Title 1 reading and elementary school teacher who loves working with children of all ages. I currently lead Tinkergarten outdoor play based learning classes, and I recently taught in Title 1 reading in Maine and previously taught four and a half years in Massachusetts and Maine. For the past 15 years, I have been primarily a stay-at-home mom, though I have remained current in my field by regularly volunteering in my children's classrooms, teaching Sunday school, and substitute teaching, and I am also a part-time health coach. Additionally, I have maintained my teaching certification for K-8 by taking continuing education courses. My goals as a tutor are to meet students where they are at academically and tailor my instruction to their individual needs. Whenever possible, I include hands-on and real world experiences to improve learning and comprehension of the skills being taught. It is always my goal to make learning both fun and effective.
