I have a Master's Degree from Western Governors University in Math K-6. Also, I hold an ESL (English as a Second Language) Supplemental Certification which focuses on reading strategies for learners K-12. In addition, as a Kumon Instructor I taught reading and language to students Pre-K through adult. Furthermore, during the school year (and summer) I help our English teachers implement curriculum to help students pass STAAR English I and II. Lastly, during summer months, I have served as Curriculum Director for both math and reading, at our church for students in grades 2 through 8.

Elementary Math

Elementary math is when students learn the meaning of numbers and how to use the four basic operations to manipulate them: addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division. They also learn how to apply those operations to the the ten major fractions and mixed numbers. In addition, usually by grades four and five students learn the connection between fractions, decimals and percents.

I currently coach a boys high school AAU team in the Pearland area-16U; and train individual male and female players 4th grade through college from various cities in the Houston metropolitan area. EXPERIENCE My success at Wichita Heights High School landed me the opportunity to attend Stephen F. Austin State University through a basketball scholarship. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a BA in Communication/Business. There, under the tutelage of the now National Championship Coach Gary Blair, the Ladyjacks and I revived the Program from the second worst team in the Nation (Sports Illustrated 1984) to our peak rank of 11 in most Nation polls (1988). From '86-'88, I led the Southland Conference in points and rebounds, with high stats in charges per game, steals, field goals and free throw percentages. I earned many Southland Conference, State and National recognitions and awards, including Regional Kodak All-American. During my junior year I played with Athletes in Action's European tour team. During the summer we toured Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Yugoslavia. After graduation, I played professionally throughout Europe, South America and the Middle East. A career ending knee injury in 1999 forced my retirement. After which I earned my Secondary Mathematics Teaching Certification from the University of Houston Clear Lake (2002) and a Masters in Mathematics from Western Governors University (2010). I am a wife, mother of two, and an 8 year cancer "Thriver!" Jeremiah 29:11.

STAAR,

STAAR

STAAR-In spring 2012, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) replaced the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). The STAAR program includes annual assessments for grades 3–8 in reading and mathematics; assessments in writing at grades 4 and 7; in science at grades 5 and 8; and in social studies at grade 8; and end-of-course assessments for English I, English II, Algebra I, biology and U.S history. Additionally, STAAR EOC assessments for English III and Algebra II will be administered on a voluntary basis beginning in spring 2016. In short STAAR is another "Stress Test As A Requirement," but it is okay. I am here to help! : ) EXPERIENCE For the last two years I have helped high students studying to take the English I, II and Algebra End of Course exams earn successful scores. In 19 years I have taught various maths to students pre-K through adult. Presently, I teach at an alternative high school in Alvin, Texas, where we help students make more positive choices for their futures in order to become productive citizens. This year my main classes are Geometry, Social Skills and Next Step- planning/preparation for life after high school. Also, as a Kumon Instructor, I taught pre-schoolers through adults math and reading.

TAKS-Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills For the past 11 years I have helped high school students strengthen their math skills to pass the State exam. Let me help you attack the TAKS! Half the TAKS battle is knowing the five representations of a function. The rest is just real-life applications and "math common sense" skills. Let's attack the TAKS together, you can do it!

Helpful, patient and knowledgable tutor

Antoinette is thorough and very patient. She was easy for my shy, introverted kid to open up to. She is clearly dedicated to her students, going above and beyond by making sure that daily practice happens and she and I are both notified if it doesn't so that we can stay on top of the lessons.

Excellent Tutor!

I strongly recommend Mrs. Antoinette! With only 2 weeks of preparation before my TExES Exam, she has helped me understand the concepts of mathematics. I was pleased with all of the tips and personalized information given to help my specific needs. It was such a blessing to work with someone who is truly helpful in making sure you succeed. She helped me grasped the material and in the end achieve a passing score on my exam. Thank you Mrs. Antoinette!

Awesome educated Tutor

As I think about my daughters struggles, without a doubt I know it's Jesus who allow this awesome God fearing women to reach out to me. My daughter had no confidence and didn't have a clue on how to multiply or count by 3's . Her Teacher and I tired many different ways to get her to understand multipling but just couldn't get her to build confidence in herself. After only two 1 hour sessions with Mrs. Antoinette my child has confidence like never before and she is multiply by 3's.

Good Tutor

She taught me math and algebra. As she was teaching me she made it seem so easy and I enjoyed everything she taught me. If anyone needs a tutor she would be a good candidate. I would rate her at 4 stars. Please believe me she is a good tutor and she will answer all your questions. After she taught me now I have more confidence so if anyone is looking for a Tutor she would be my choice.

Great tutor

This was my first experience with a tutor and Mrs. W. made it a great experience. With her teaching background, she is very responsive, and knowledgeable in all subject matters, which has been instrumental in my growth. Writing was always a challenge for me. Mrs. W. has helped with my writing and communication skills. I am so happy that after several attempts to find a suitable tutor I reached out to Mrs. W. She responded right away and said she would be glad to help me. She has been a blessing, and with her encouragement I have decided to return to school and pursue my degree in Business Management. If you're looking for a tutor who will take a vested ownership in ensuring that you reach your goal, Mrs. W. is the right person.
