By profession, I am an American Sign Language Educational Interpreter. For the last 20+ years of my life, I have spent the majority of my time working in the classroom with K-12 and post-secondary students. Initially, over 35 years ago, I learned ASL through association with the Deaf Community. Later, I returned to the classroom and obtained an Associates Degree in Interpreter Training. I am a member of RID and NAIE and have an EIPA certificate, which verifies I have the skills required to work in the classroom.
I have taught ASL to Continuing Education students at community colleges, local high schools, hospitals and work places (e.g., FedEx). In my lesson plan, I incorporate all the features of ASL so students can gain a comfortable grasp of the language and also teach the importance of Deaf culture.
In addition, I excel at math concepts up to the level of Algebra. My knowledge of these subjects has been checked by Wyzant through skills tests. Although it is not my area of expertise, as is ASL, I have tutored Deaf students who need to improve their comprehension of math and so have an excellent grasp of the concepts required to understand this daunting subject.

Very dedicated and professional!

Leslie went above and beyond during our sessions together! I had an assignment due pretty last minute for ASL and she took the time to make sure I was more than prepared! She even went as far as to send me extra study material. She was really patient and very knowledgeable, also very easy to connect with on a personal level which made me feel very comfortable during our lesson. I will definitely be using her as a tutor for ASL-II.

Ms. Leslie was kind, thorough, and gave helpful pointers. Has a lot of experience, and teaches you right where you are. Extremely patient. She was even willing to go over my class material and printed a copy to review it with me.

Extremely Informative

Helped me tremendously with glossing and the various ASL rules to set that up. Tutor is very patient and understanding and has great resources she uses as tools. I took away a lot from the lesson, even though there were several technical glitches.

She worked with me at my level

I am sure I will need a tutor in the future and will plan to work with Leslie. She was so knowledgeable and because I am in my first year, was flexible to make the sentences more manageable for me.
