Bio

Hello,

I have been in education for many years, and have raised four grown children. Over the years as a tutor, teacher, adjunct instructor, and an academic advisor, I can honestly say with conviction that every student has the ability to learn. As Howard Gardiner suggests, we all have multiple intelligences. I believe it is the responsibility of the tutor and teacher to determine each student's specific learning style, and teach to this intelligence.

With my background in psychology and education, I trust in the ability of each student. My goal is to adapt the content of the course to the uniqueness of each student, to create learning that works best for each child.
I look forward to helping your child see that learning is exciting and fun, with academic rewards as well as improvements in self esteem.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and a Master's degree in Education. I have taught preschool, elementary school, directed a nursery school of 300 students, and currently work at a community college, teaching and and advising future education majors.

I look forward to working with your child, with my goal to help making learning a fun reality.

Thank you!

I have extensive experience as a substitute teacher in grades k-6. My student teaching experience for New York State certification was in grade three and grade six. As a tutor, it is important to understand how the student learns, and adjust my teaching skills to meet this student need. We all have different learning styles, and as a tutor, this is the key to success. I make learning fun for students, as they see improvement in their learning. This builds confidence in the student, and ultimately, results in their success.
Study Skills,

Study Skills

I currently teach at a community college, and include study skills in my College Forum class. There are many styles of learning, as Howard Gardiner explains. As teachers and tutors, we need to teach to the individual learner, using skills for the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learner. Students can study in a variety of fun ways, using rhyme and songs, flash cards, and memorization techniques to name a few ideas.
