Although most of my classroom teaching experience has been in Kindergarten, I have a lot of experience in other grade levels as well. Before teaching, I spent a year doing interventions in reading, writing, math, and language for struggling students in first grade through fourth grade. I also have tutored a student in reading and writing for three years, and many other students in reading and math over the last few years. I love tutoring because I love helping students learn, and I love helping them to be more confident in school.
I am currently working on masters in TESOL. I worked as an Interventionist for a year before I got hired as a full time teacher, working with students who needed extra help in reading, writing, and math.
I have to implement the Common Core everyday in my classroom, in multiple subject areas. I have also had many professional development trainings on Common Core curriculum.
I have a lot of experience working with students in elementary school. I have been a full time kindergarten for four years, before that I was an interventionist, I also worked with first graders and third graders at our school's after school tutoring program. While I was in college I worked with students (K-5) after school for homework help.
I very much enjoy tutoring students. It gives me the opportunity to work one on one with students, and help them do better in school and be more confident. I'm easy going and flexible. I know having an extended day of school is not always easy for students, so I always try to make it fun and engaging.
