Hello! I have four years of teaching English as a second language in Japan in a public classroom setting, as well as over 10 years of experience tutoring both adults and students ranging from elementary age to high school in Esl. I speak business level Japanese so I am able to help Japanese Esl learners achieve fluent conversational English as a native English speaker, while being able answer questions in Japanese. I also have worked as a writing tutor at my university, an academic writing tutor to international students, and as a history tutor to students at the university level. I help students hone their academic writing and find their voice through proofreading, including writing planning and organization, content, grammar, vocabulary and mechanics.

English/ESL: I taught English as a second language in Japan for four years, to students in public elementary school and junior high school, as well as tutoring adult learners in both one on one and in group and school classroom settings. I have crafting lessons and conversation exchange that meets the needs of my students, creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere where speaking and learning can take place.

Japanese: I have years of experience studying the language myself and teaching the language to other Japanese language learners. I have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Exam level N2. I have lived in Japan for years, and I understand the language from both a practical on the ground and textbook learning perspective, a background that helps me to understand the struggles that Japanese language learners go through, as well as how to best prepare you for successful Japanese language communication.
