I have a masters degree in special education and have worked almost my entire life with special needs children. Growing up with siblings who have had special needs, I understand how much attention, motivation and frequent encouragement is crucial to forming good work habits. I present material in small steps and draw pictures to explain material or tell a funny story to help my students remember. I have over 10 years of experience working with ADHD students. I show them refocusing techniques and help them with the skills they need to re-adjust their focus when necessary. I also work with my ADHD students to implement an individualized learning plan that will help them with all of their subject areas.

I have been teaching the Math Regent exams in NY since 2014. I have been declared the model teacher in my school where I can help the failing students pass. I dissect each question piece by piece in order for the students to analyzed the information and gather enough key evidence to help them solve the problem without letting the unnecessary words in the problem confuse them.

Knows HOW to TEACH!!

Some people are smart and know how to solve problems but they cant teach. Athena is not only knowledgeable about Math, she possesses great understanding and knowledge of how to teach any and all types of learners! She is a gifted educator! She isn't interested in just helping a student understand the current lesson, she is interested in giving students study and test taking skills and organizational skills that will help them succeed in every class. She makes you feel like your kid is her favorite kid and her #1 priority! I am very happy I found Athena!
