I have worked mostly with college students on general chemistry, organic chemistry, and algebra, but I am also able to tutor other math classes, including precalculus or geometry. Despite working with mostly college students I have had a great relationship with many middle and high school students.

As a tutor, I enjoy building a student's confidence and ability to learn independently. I always find my students' success very rewarding and find the process of revisiting course material through the eyes of a new student very motivating. I first started tutoring as a college student at Arcadia University. There, I completed a B.S. in chemistry with minors in math and computer science and tutored extensively in all three subjects. Before graduating I received the ACS Organic Division Undergraduate Award. I then moved to Houston to complete my master's degree in chemistry at Rice University. While at Rice, I served as a teaching assistant for general chemistry labs in addition to my research responsibilities. I left my Ph.D. program in 2019 so that I could address some health issues, which are easier to manage on a tutoring schedule than while in graduate school.

I also teach ballet from my home. I have been a ballet dancer since I was very young and had a very Vaganova training. For high school, I was accepted to and attended South Carolina Governor's School for Arts and Humanities, and began traveling to attend summer dance intensives the summer before 6th grade, including at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Since moving to Houston after college, I stay in shape by taking classes at Houston Ballet or online classes with Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami. The dance studio space I have in my home is great for teaching private lessons, given that we do not work on jumps, because I have not yet installed flooring to guarantee a safe surface for jumping.

Please don't hesitate to send any questions you might have my way. I look forward to working with you!

I have been a ballet dancer since I was very young. I began traveling to attend summer dance intensives beginning the summer before 6th grade, including out-of-state schools such as the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA). I spent my last three years of high school at a boarding school, South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities (SCGSAH), where I was able to focus on academics before lunch, and dance training after lunch. I first began teaching ballet as a summer job during high school, at Montessori Early Learning Center, in Columbia, SC (my hometown). Since graduating from high school, I remained in shape during college and graduate school by taking classes at Houston Ballet and Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami.

Organic Chemistry

"She was really helpful and understanding. The lesson we went over helped me get excited about learning organic chemistry again. I lost that excitement two semesters ago but now chemistry seems fun again and it's all thanks to her." -Princess Flanders
