My educational background is as follows: I finished my undergraduate degree from Amherst College, 1985; majored in economics with concentration in math.

I have Master's degrees from MIT (Business administration) in 1987 and Rensselaer Hartford (Computer science and engineering) in 1992. I've also taken courses more recently in Psychology, Biology, and Medical Interpreting, so I know what it's like to be a student.

I had a 28 year career in finance before retiring at the end of 2015. I worked extensively in securities analysis in the fixed income (bond) market, where I specialized in mortgage-backed securities. I have a lot of experience applying math to problems in finance. Since retiring, I have worked as a substitute teacher, mainly at high schools in the Hartford area, and with primary emphasis in mathematics.

I have taken and passed the Praxis II exam for Grades 7-12 math, and have completed the ARC program for certification as a middle school / high school math teacher in Connecticut. I have also worked as a substitute teacher, mainly in the Meriden high schools -- but also other districts -- in a variety of math courses, including stats, algebra 2, and geometry / trig. I am familiar as well with linear algebra and calculus.

My educational background is in economics and math, with master's degrees in business and computer science. I have taken and passed the Praxis II content exam and the ARC course for certification as a middle school and high school math teacher in Connecticut. My course work in undergraduate included probability / statistics courses as well as courses in econometrics (regression analysis). I have substituted in stats courses at the high school level on numerous occasions. In the current environment, a significant portion of the curriculum in other courses such as Geometry and Algebra 2 also is dedicated to statistics and probability, and I have covered those topics (permutations and combinations, for example) in those classes as well.

Outstanding tutor

My daughter benefited greatly from David’s tutoring. He was able to explain the material and quickly help her understand Algebra 2 in a way that nobody had been able to do previously. My daughter left her class ecstatic that she finally understand the material.

A Truly Exceptional Tutor !!!

If I could give more than a five-star rating, I would do so to rate David. Given his experience and excellent knowledge in business (both breadth and depth), he can teach any business course at undergraduate and graduate levels. Prof. David, as I call him, would be an excellent professor of business. He taught me finance initially and, ever since, he has been my “go to” tutor in any business course that I need assistance with. Not only is he exceptional in academic excellence, Prof. David is also a kind, diligent, trustworthy, caring, and dedicated teacher who truly enjoys teaching for the love of learning. He is a rare gem!! If you need a tutor who would go above and beyond the call of duty as well as walk the extra mile with you, Prof. David is the tutor for you.
