Bio

I am an experienced science teacher with a love of students and the content. In my twenty-five years of teaching, I have taught AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry, and General Chemistry. For the past 10 + years, I have been teaching General Chemistry and International Baccalaureate Chemistry (SL and HL). I am an experienced science teacher with a love of students and the content. In my twenty-five years of teaching, I have taught AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry, and General Chemistry. For the past 10 + years, I have been teaching General Chemistry and International Baccalaureate Chemistry (SL and HL). In addition to teaching, I have experience integrating science technology into classrooms through my lead curriculum technology position and writing and implementing science curriculum while acting as the Secondary Science Chair for the district.

I use a guided inquiry approach to teaching and learning science. We will use a variety of modeling techniques in order to express our understanding of the chemistry phenomena. Tutoring time will consist of you actively engaging in processing and working together to understand the content. This could be through creating models to understand the phenomena, written work, or dialogue.

My role as a tutor is to guide and support you in the learning process. I will try to offer clarification and examples of relevance when applicable. You will get the most out of our time together if you actively participate in our sessions while working to develop as a lifelong learner. This growth will allow you to better immerse yourself in the abstract world of chemistry, or science in general. Please contact me if you would like to work through science together!

Very patient and understanding!

Jayme really helped me walk through problems on my own and try to figure out how to reach answers using methods that I was more comfortable with. This will help me on the exam when I have to use my own logic on AP-style questions. She understood how to pick up whenever I got stuck and remained patient when I struggled through the more difficult concepts. We worked through quite a few challenging problems and she will be sending me notes on more so I can review them before I take a practice exam. It was a pleasure getting help from her!
