Do you need help in math? I am here to help! I am a professional tutor with over 15 years of experience and my favorite subjects are Algebra, Geometry, Precalc, Trig, College Algebra, Statistics, and Calculus! I have tutored all levels of middle school math and all levels of high school math up to Calculus - and this includes AP Statistics. At the college level, I tutor all levels of Algebra, Intro to Statistics, and Calculus I. When I'm not tutoring, I teach Algebra and Statistics to undergraduate students at Stevenson University and the University of Baltimore.

I can explain math concepts in easy to understands terms. I understand the different ways students learn and can use appropriate methods to ensure success. I have experience with all ages - elementary, middle school, high school, college, and adults returning to the classroom after a long absence. I love math, but I understand that many of my students do not! I can make math easier, and you may be surprised with some fun along the way.

I am available for either one-time refreshers - if you are preparing for a test, for example - or for weekly sessions that last the year, the semester, or a few weeks. Summer is a great time to get a refresher, or to prepare for the next math class. I also tutor SAT/ACT Math, GMAT, and GRE Math. Let me know how I can help you!

All tutoring either takes place online (using WyzAnt's Online Classroom) or in-person at the Cockeysville Library.

I graduated with honors from Bryn Mawr College and earned my Master's Degree from the University of Baltimore.

You are good at math, perhaps you just don't know it yet.

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

The building blocks of a solid understanding of math start at a very young age. Math occurs all around us and young minds are ready and able to grasp it! But, so many things can get in the way of math success... so let me help. Every child is good at math, perhaps he/she just doesn't know it yet.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra is my specialty! I meet hundreds of algebra students every year, and there is no "one size fits all" approach. So, if your algebra teacher seems to be speaking a different language, I can help. Don't wait. It will not get better. But with my help, you can succeed at Algebra I and you will be better prepared for Algebra II.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

If you struggled in Algebra I, but managed to "just get by," you need a tutor for Algebra II. A tutor gives you the advantage of one-on-one instruction of concepts. It really helps - just ask my students. Algebra may start to be fun!
Calculus,

Calculus

If you need help differentiating or integrating polynomials in Calculus, then don't hesitate to contact me. A tutor can give you the opportunity to ask those questions your teacher didn't cover in class. Bring your homework and recent tests/quizzes to me and together we will unlock the mystery!
Geometry,

Geometry

Geometry is different than Algebra - this could be good or bad depending upon your strengths. It is my job as your tutor to use your strengths to help you understand the concepts. I will also find your weaknesses and give you the tools you need to turn a weakness into a strength! It is time to get logical!
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

If you don't "get" pre-algebra, you may find yourself struggling. Don't despair - it is never too late to learn the basics.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

You will need a strong base in Algebra to be successful in your College Algebra, Precalculus, and/or Trigonometry class. Whatever you class is called, I can help. I have helped hundreds of students succeed in this class. I would love to help you, too.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

The one major problem with SAT math is that my advanced math students are so beyond Algebra and basic Geometry by the time they take the SAT that they have forgotten many of the concepts! So, let me remind you! If you are a High School Junior disappointed with your math score, it will just take some review of old material to raise that score. Let's work on it!

My daughter's ACT improved by 5 points

Cornelia worked with my daughter to raise her ACT math score. My daughter's math score was stuck at a 29 and after many practice tests, Cornelia was able to analyze which areas she needed to improve. Unfortunately, my daughter, who does well in math, had geometry in COVID middle school and didn't learn nearly enough to do well on standardized testing as a junior in HS. My daughter did MANY practice tests and would sit with Cornelia to go over which problems she got wrong. Cornelia would refresh the concepts she needed and gave test taking tips that really helped her. Happy to say that my daughter raised her score to a 34. I am confident that without Cornelia, she would never have been able to do it. I can't stress enough, that Cornelia is worth the time and money for her knowledge!! She was able to bring up my daughter's knowledge and more importantly confidence to go into the ACT again to get the score she needed.

Friendly and helpful tutor

Cornelia went over common questions on the Math section of the SATs with my daughter to get a sense of her strengths and weaknesses and offer some tips and strategies. My daughter really liked Cornelia and is looking forward to her next session. I highly recommend her.

Terrific tutor - makes math simple and easy

Cornelia works with boy of my sons (6th grade and 8th grade). They love her and describe her as patient, clear, and very effective at explaining concepts they are struggling with. She works with them if they have examples or homework/tests to review and provides her own examples and practice problems when they don’t.

Excellent Math teacher!

I reached out to Cornelia to seek help for my daughter's 8th grade Math during this past summer. Cornelia assessed my daughter's Math level in the first lesson and assigned her with some Math exercises appropriate for her level. In each lesson afterwards, she taught my daughter new concepts and go through many math exercises together. Within just one and a half month, my daughter was able to learn many new concepts and got ahead a very good start for the new school year. My daughter told me that she has gained a lot of confidence in Math and she feels that all the hard work in this past summer worth. She loves Cornelia's teaching even much better than her school teacher! Cornelia is very friendly and easy to talk to, she made my daughter feel very comfortable to ask questions. Also, she is very organized and well-prepared for each lesson. She gave assignments after each lesson so my daughter can practice after the class. Thank you so much, Cornelia! We would love to arrange summer lessons again next year. Keep in touch!

Knows statistics!! And can teach it!

Ms. Cornelia is extremely knowledgeable in college level statistics... she taught me how to problem solve, taught me concepts, showed me how to use my calculator, among other things. She is patient & kind. I made a B in the class, before working with her I was prepared to drop or fail the class. Thank you Ms. Cornelia!
