Hello. I am a masters-level social worker, skilled in communication. I have taught social work undergraduate and graduate students in internship settings. I have taught people flower arranging. I have taught medical terminology to transcribers. I have helped pediatric patients relate better to their parents. I have taught activities of daily living to autistic children. Patience, empathy and caring are my strong suits. As an active listener, I can interpret and reframe your questions and channel your learning anxiety in a positive direction.

My background has been in the health fields, working with family and pediatric issues, and I can relate to most any age group. As a clinic social worker, I provided educational sessions on various topics, to both individuals and groups.

I am a positive collaborator with my students and believe strongly in empowerment. My technical knowledge is superior in English, Psychology and Medical Terminology but I believe I would be able to teach most subjects except math. Because of my past pediatric involvement, I can easily relate to a younger age group as well as to adults. I enjoy teaching very much, particularly when my students are successful.

As an undergraduate, I majored in Pre-Med studies but minored in English and ended up with more electives in English than in Biology! I am an avid reader of all kinds of materials and recognize the importance of providing access to books that the student would find enjoyable. My focus in English was in American literature and Creative Writing. I am comfortable teaching reading, grammar and writing as well as spelling and vocabulary skills to any age level.

Years ago, I was employed as a Vocational Horticultural Counselor in a pre-vocational training center for psychiatric patients. My students were taught flower arranging with a focus on ultimate paid employment in the job market. This included everything from their ability to relate to others to the actual technical skills required.
